Pioneers to Host Women in Sports Banquet

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville will host its first annual Women in Sports Banquet on Tuesday, March 4 in Velzy Commons. The event will celebrate the achievements of Pioneer women student-athletes while financially enhancing the eight NCAA women sports programs at UW-Platteville.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Senior Emma Carlson and junior Kierney McDonald of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team were recognized as American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American on Wednesday morning the organization announced. Carlson was named All-American Third Team, while McDonald was tabbed Honorable Mention.

WHITEWATER, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team’s historic season came to a close Saturday night in the NCAA Regional Championship. Making just their second ever Sweet 16 appearance in program history, the Pioneers (27-7) fell in three sets to top-seeded UW-Whitewater in Kris Russell Volleyball Arena.

WHITEWATER, Wis. – For just the second time in program history, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team will compete in the NCAA DIII Sweet 16 after defeating Washington University (Mo.) (29-7) in four sets Friday evening. The Pioneers (27-6) took an early two-set lead and finished strong to advance to the regional championship by scores of 25-20, 25-18, 18-25, and 25-17.

WHITEWATER, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team is advancing to the Second Round of the NCAA Championship after sweeping Edgewood College on Thursday afternoon in Kris Russell Volleyball Arena. The Pioneers (26-6) defeated the Eagles (24-10) by scores of 25-18, 25-16 and 25-17.

The Pioneers will take on Edgewood in the opening round from Whitewater, Wisconsin on Thursday.

Behind 14 team blocks across the match and a 20-18 fifth set, the No. 17 Pioneers denied the Titans of an easy route to the conference title match.

The five seed Pioneers (25-5, 4-3 WIAC) defeated the four seed Blugolds (20-8, 4-3 WIAC) by scores of 25-18, 25-17, and 25-23.
