The Pioneers will take on Edgewood in the opening round from Whitewater, Wisconsin on Thursday.
The Pioneers put together a fantastic season to collect the at-large bid, finishing 25-6 overall and advancing to the WIAC Tournament Semifinals. UW-Platteville's attack is led by a pair of All-WIAC selections in senior Emma Carlson and junior Kierney McDonald, while junior libero Bri Gartner was named to the WIAC All-Defensive Team.
UW-Platteville's last tournament appearance was in 2010, where the team advanced to the Sweet Sixteen after sweeping both Dominican and Carthage.
Edgewood makes its second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and third overall after winning the NACC Tournament with a sweep over Concordia Wisconsin. Six Eagles earned All-NACC honors, including Abigail Hoffman, who was named Player of the Year, and Abbey Falk, who collected Defensive Player of the Year.
The teams will meet at UW-Whitewater, who was picked to host the first three rounds. The winner between UW-Platteville and Edgewood will take on either WashU or Saint Benedict in the second round on Friday.
