PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Director of Athletics and Recreation Dr. Kristina Navarro-Krupka and Head Coach Becca Runde announced Monday (August 8, 2022) the hiring of Riley Kelsch as assistant coach of the Pioneer softball team.

Platteville, Wis.- Senior Rachel Plautz, of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball program, was recently named third team Academic All-American of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Plautz was eligible for the Academic All-American honor after being named a District 6 All-Region member.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - Senior Rachel Plautz, of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball program, was recently named Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). UW-Platteville is in District 6, which includes Michigan and Minnesota. Plautz is a mechanical engineering major with a 3.80 grade-point average.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team placed four members on the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Conference team for their efforts during the 2022 campaign. Earning first team honors were seniors Rachel Plautz and Riley Kelsch and junior Claire Bakkestuen. Senior Angela Laabs was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.

ST. PAUL, Minn. – With a ticket to the WIAC Championship on the line for both teams, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team split the final regular season twin bill with UW-River Falls at a neutral site field on Monday afternoon. The Pioneers needed to sweep the Falcons to guarantee a place in the five-team championship, while UW-River Falls only needed one win to make the WIAC post season. UW-Platteville secured game one 5-2 before the two teams took the nightcap into extra innings where the Falcons walked off with a 1-0 victory in the 8th inning. The Pioneers must now wait until the final WIAC games are played on Tuesday to know if they are moving on or if their season has officially come to a close.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team honored six senior athletes and one manager on Sunday at the UW-Platteville Softball Complex. The team recognized the seniors in between games one and two where they lost 11-0 (5 innings) and 13-2 (6 innings) to the No. 19 nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh Titans.

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team fell just short of snapping UW-La Crosse’s nine-game win streak on Tuesday afternoon at North Campus Field. The Eagles, who are receiving votes in the NFCA Top-25 Poll and leading the WIAC standings, held off the Pioneers in game one, 2-0 and the nightcap, 4-2.

Platteville, Wis.- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville spring athletes once again dealt with weather issues that caused last second changes to the schedule. The Pioneer baseball and softball teams had games postponed, while golf and track and field battled wind conditions once again.

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team split its first of three conference doubleheaders this week at UW-Stevens Point on Tuesday. The Pointers (16-14, 1-7 WIAC) took game one 11-7 while the Pioneers (12-14, 4-4 WIAC) finished the day with a 7-4 victory.

MENOMONIE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team dropped two close conference games to UW-Stout on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field. The Pioneers fell 7-5 in game one and 2-1 in game two.

Another week of cold, wind, snow and rain forced cancelations, postponements and location changes for softball, baseball and the track and field programs. Despite all the changes, the Pioneers had another successful week.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team marked another program first Sunday afternoon with a WIAC sweep of UW-Eau Claire. To make the day that much sweeter, both 5-4 victories finished in walk-off fashion, first with a triple to left center by Lauren Heuberger and secondly when Madison Hughes was hit by pitch with bases loaded and two outs.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team achieved a first on Wednesday, a run-rule victory against UW-Whitewater. The Pioneers defeated the Warhawks 14-6 (six innings) in game one.

Platteville, Wis.- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneer spring athletes find themselves competing against Mother Nature to compete on the field. The Pioneer track and field program held its first outdoor track meet in the snow, while softball and baseball have moved locations and battled the cold to get contests in.

DAVENPORT, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team (8-10) led 6-4 going into the bottom of the 6th inning Tuesday, but St. Ambrose (18-3) buzzed by the Pioneers to win 8-7 and extend its win-streak to 13. St. Ambrose also claimed game one of the double header in St. Vincent Complex by a score of 5-2.
