PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Athletic Department and its 16 teams join the UW-Platteville campus in kicking off the 9th annual Pioneers Day of Giving! The event officially starts at 10 a.m. on Thursday and runs through noon on Friday.

Four Pioneers Earn Academic All-District Honors
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. –Junior Brynlee Nelson and sophomore Ella Mackiewicz, Madalyn Reichmann, and Ashley Weir of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s basketball team were named to the College Sport Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team it was announced on Tuesday.

Three Pioneers Earn WIAC Postseason Honors
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Sophomore Ella Mackiewicz of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s basketball team was named to the 2023-24 All-WIAC Team the league announced on Tuesday. Senior Sarah Mueller earned a spot on the WIAC Honorable Mention team, while senior Addison Baierl received All-Sportsmanship honors.

Pioneers Fall to UW-La Crosse in WIAC Tournament
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Hosting their first home conference tournament game in nearly a decade, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s basketball team was eliminated from the WIAC Tournament (presented by Culver’s) Monday night after falling 81-71 to UW-La Crosse on Bo Ryan Court.

MENOMONIE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s basketball team (14-11, 7-7 WIAC) fell 66-52 in the regular season finale to UW-Stout (18-7, 8-6) inside Johnson Fieldhouse in Menomonie, Wisconsin.

Pioneers Drop High-Scoring Game to #9 UW-Whitewater
WHITEWATER, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s basketball team ultimately fell 82-72 on Wednesday night to No. 9 nationally ranked UW-Whitewater inside the Williams Center. With the exception of the second quarter, the Pioneers (14-10, 7-6 WIAC) outshot the Warhawks (21-3, 10-3 WIAC) in each period, averaged 51.6 percent from the field in the second-half alone, but were plagued by fouls most of the night where the Warhawks went on to make 20-of-24 free throw attempts.

Pioneers Beat Pointers Behind Second Half 18-0 Run on Senior Day
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s basketball team secured a home WIAC Tournament game with a 59-55 victory over UW-Stevens Point Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers improved to 14-9 overall and 7-5 in the WIAC while the Pointers dropped to 14-9 and 3-9 WIAC following the game on Bo Ryan Court.

OSHKOSH, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's basketball team (13-9, 6-5 WIAC) fell 67-54 to No. 16 nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh (18-4, 9-2 WIAC) on Wednesday night at Kolf Sports Center.

Four Teams At Home This Week
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville athletic teams near postseason competition as regular season play wraps up in the coming weeks. The Pioneers wrestling team hosts its final home dual of the season on Tuesday night, while the basketball teams take on UW-Oshkosh and UW-Stevens Point this week. The track and field teams host the UW-Platteville Invitational on Saturday.

Pioneers hang on for win over Falcons
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s basketball team improved to 6-4 in the league and 13-8 overall with a thrilling 72-70 victory over UW-River Falls (13-8, 4-6 WIAC) Saturday afternoon. The win on Bo Ryan Court marks the first time since the 2014-15 season which the Pioneers have reached six conference and 13 overall victories.

Pioneers Shut Down UW-Eau Claire, 53-36
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s basketball team (12-8, 5-4 WIAC) held UW-Eau Claire (10-10, 4-5 WIAC) to a season-low points, defeating the Blugolds 53-36 in Zorn Arena. The victory marks the Pioneers’ first win over UW-Eau Claire since 2019 as the Blugolds had won the previous nine meetings.
