Lovan Joins Track and Field Staff

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - Lexus Lovan will join the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Track and Field staff as a full-time Assistant Coach.

Pioneers’ Schneider follows in footsteps of past forensic investigation majors to Florida internship

Platteville, Wis.- Junior Kelli Schneider, a member of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s track and field program, was one of many who tuned into the popular crime scene investigation shows that littered televisions since the 2000s. It was her love of watching the shows that got her interested in crime scene investigation (CSI), a summer program and class that sealed the deal for her.

Pioneers’ Christiansen gaining knowledge on renewable resources at Pierce Manufacturing

Platteville, Wis.- Caleb Christiansen, of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville cross country and track and field programs, has always been interested in renewable energy. As an engineering physics major with an emphasis in electrical engineering and minor in sustainability and renewable energy systems, his summer internship at Pierce Manufacturing is giving him hands-on experience with a company that is investing heavily in the electrification of their vehicles.

Platteville, Wis.- Seven members of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville outdoor track and field program earned NCAA Division III All-Region outdoor honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Pioneers’ Healey taking hands-on education to internship with Dairlyland Seed

Platteville, Wis.- Sophomore Alexis Healey, of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s track program, knew she wanted to major in agriculture. When her college search began, her home state of Indiana had one public agriculture program, Purdue University. Purdue was just a little too close to home for Healey, and she began her search that led her to UW-Platteville.

VanHout and Eichler cap off the NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships with All-American honors

Geneva, Ohio - The Pioneers have produced two All-Americans per day at the NCAA DIII Outdoor Track and Field Championships, and day three was no exception. Cade VanHout and Justin Eichler earned All-American status in their respective events, 100m dash and hammer throw.

Leahy crowned NCAA DIII women's shot put champion

Geneva, Ohio - Two more Pioneers earned All-American honors on day two at the NCAA DIII Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Senior Brianna Leahy won the women's shot put competition, and freshman Brenna Noon took home seventh place for the Pioneer women.

Lawrence and Girard named All-Americans on Day One

Geneva, Ohio - On day one of the NCAA DIII Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the Pioneers competed in 4 event areas; men's and women's discus, the decathlon, men's and women's 200m preliminaries, and men's javelin. Finishing among the top 8 in their event, Will Lawrence and Alex Girard were named All-Americans.

Taddy to be inducted into USTFCCCA NCAA Division III Hall of Fame

Platteville, Wis. - University of Wisconsin-Platteville cross country Assistant Coach Marcia Taddy will be inducted into the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s Hall of Fame. Taddy competed in cross country and track and field for the Pioneers from 2004-2007. Taddy was a 17 time All-American and won eight national championships in track. She was twice named national track athlete of the year. She was a two-time All-American in cross country.

Pioneers sending nine to the NCAA Division III National Outdoor Championship

Platteville, Wis.- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville will be represented by nine student-athletes at the 2022 NCAA Division III National Outdoor Championship in Geneva, Ohio, starting on Thursday, May 26 and finishing on Saturday, May 28.

UW-Platteville inducts nine into Hall of Fame

Platteville, Wis.- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville athletic department inducted nine former Pioneer greats into the Athletic Hall of Fame on May 22. The ceremony combined the Class of 2020 and 2021. The previous year’s ceremony was postponed due to the COVID-19  pandemic.

Rock Island, Ill. - Select members from the UW-Platteville track and field team competed one last time at the Augustana Twilight Qualifier, a last chance meet to qualify to the NCAA DIII Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Pioneers’ Orr named WIAC Track Performer of the Meet

PLATTEVILLE, Wis.- Senior Gwen Orr, of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s track program, was named the WIAC’s Track Performer of the Meet after winning the 100- and 200-meter dashes at the WIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

Pioneer track and field competes at Eagle Open

La Crosse, Wis. – The Pioneers competed at the Eagle Open hosted at UW-La Crosse on Friday, May 13. The first of two opportunities leading up to the NCAA DIII Outdoor Track and Field Championships, UW-Platteville athletes look to improve upon their times and marks in order to qualify.

Leahy and Orr named champions on day 2 of WIAC Outdoor Championships

La Crosse, Wis. – On day two of the WIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, 2 Pioneer women were named champions in 3 events. Several more Pioneer men and women made their way to the podium.

Track and Field ready for WIAC Outdoor Championships

Platteville, Wis.- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field program will send 59 student-athletes to the 2022 WIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship (presented by Culver’s) hosted by UW-La Crosse. The championship will begin on Friday, May 6 and finish on Saturday, May 7.
