Pioneers defeat Lions on the road

HANCOCK, Mich. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team finished this weekend's road trip with a 2-0 win at Finlandia University.
The Pioneers improve to 9-5-3 overall while the Lions fall to 5-6-1 on the season.
UW-Platteville was able to pull ahead 1-0 in the 35th minute when Finlandia's defender went to clear the ball and knocked it in their own goal.
The 1-0 lead held through the half until the Pioneers doubled their lead in the 66th minute. A shot from freshman Alyssa Peterson hit and deflected off the post and senior Amber Lueder drilled it into the net.
Overall, the Pioneers fired off 29 shots with 18 on goal while Katie Brown recorded the Lions' lone shot.
The Pioneers will return to action and Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 30 for Senior Day with game time vs. UW-Eau Claire scheduled for 2 p.m.
