Pioneers defeat Spartans to move into WIAC play unbeaten
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – After a 10-day break, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women’s soccer team returned to action Wednesday night in Ralph E. Davis for a 1-0 victory over the University of Dubuque. The win over Dubuque (4-5-0) improves the Pioneers to 6-0-2 and signifies the first time in program history that the Pioneers remain unbeaten going into the month of October.

"This team is proving something every time they step on the field," said Director of Soccer Sam Koenig. "Just grinding out W's and finding ways to win! It is amazing to watch this group come together as family!"
UW-Platteville continued to prove their offensive dominance by holding a 19-9 advantage on shots over the Spartans with 12 shots on goal for the Pioneers and five on goal for the visitors.
Freshman Lydia Smith scored the lone goal of the game in the 24th minute to mark the Pioneer's first career goal. Freshman Bryanne Pinkowski added an assist on the winning goal.
Senior Amber Lueder had a game high six shots with four on goal.
Junior Emma Ball recorded three saves while Dubuque's Candence Martindale defended the net tallying eight saves on the night.
The Pioneers will now prepare for the start of Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play later this week. UW-Platteville will head to UW-Stout on Friday, Oct. 1 for a 4 p.m. start.
