The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to visiting Nebraska Wesleyan on Sunday.
In the loss, the Pioneers outshot the Prairie Dogs, 19 to 5 including a 7 to 1 advantage in shots on goal. The Prairie Dogs (2-4) got its lone shot on goal opportunity in the 17th minute when Elizabeth Becker scored when she broke free from the Pioneer defense, placing a shot to the lower right of the goal.
UW-Platteville (4-3) came out of the halftime break and outshot NWU by a 13 to 4 margin. In the 62nd minute, the Pioneers had three close opportunities – two of which were kicked away by Prairie Dogs' defenders. The NWU backline of defense rose to the occasion, later in the half, in the final minutes of the contest to preserve the shutout.
The Pioneers' Katie Viney had five shots in the loss and Molly Bender had three saves. Nebraska Wesleyan goalkeeper Emily Dierks made five saves in the shutout.
