Pioneers wrap up day two of WIAC Championships: Schilling, Leahy, Walechka receive All-Conference honors
River Falls, Wis. – Saturday, May 8, the Pioneers continued competition on day two of the WIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted at UW-River Falls. In team scores, the men and women’s team finished in seventh place with 50 and 45 points respectively. Placing among the top three in their events, receiving All-Conference honors are Katie Schilling, Brianna Leahy, and Alexander Walechka.

In team scores, the men and women's team finished in seventh place with 50 and 45 points respectively. Placing among the top three in their events, receiving All-Conference honors are Katie Schilling, Brianna Leahy, and Alexander Walechka.
Pioneer Women
Senior Katie Schilling finished the 400m hurdles in third place, establishing a new personal record and school record of 1:02.35. This time ranks Schilling at No. 6 in the nation for NCAA DIII. Teammate Jessica Buss finished in eighth place with a time of 1:05.55.
In the 100m dash, Gwen Orr took fifth place with a time of 12.30 seconds, a personal best time. Orr finished in fourth place in the 200m dash, clocking 25.04 seconds.
Kaitlyn Galgon took fourth place in both the 800m and 1500m run. Setting a personal best in the 800m, Galgon ran 2:15.09. Galgon ran 4:45.29 in the 1500m. Teammate Caitlin Gorge finished with a time of 5:08.81.
In the heptathlon, Katheryn Holter finished in sixth place scoring 4,033 points. Grace Elvert ended day two in ninth place with a score of 3,723 points.
The 4x100m relay of Grace Guetschow, Kayla Lipsey, Casey Rielly, and Orr took fifth place with a season best time of 49.48 seconds.
Buss, Schilling, Holter, and Galgon teamed up for the 4x400m relay to place sixth with a time of 4:04.78.
In the triple jump, Kelli Schneider jumped a personal best mark of 10.68m (35-0.5). Schneider was honored following the meet with Larry Zirgibel All-Sportsmanship Team honors.
Brianna Leahy threw 14.31m (46-11.5) in the shot put, placing third. Leahy maintains her national ranking at No. 4 in the shot put. Paulina Wienke threw 11.55m (37.10.75).
In the discus throw, Leahy finished in sixth place with personal best throw of 43.15m (141-7). Wienke and MJ Stephens also threw personal bests, marking 36.57m (119-11) and 35.43m (116-3) respectively. Senior Jackie Bergschultz threw 31.20m (102-4).
Pioneer Men
Finishing runner up in the discus, Alexander Walechka threw a personal best of 53.33m (174-11). Walechka sits at No. 3 in the national rankings among NCAA DIII discus throwers. Ben Veverka finished in sixth place with a mark of 48.54m (159-3). Justin Eichler threw 47.19m (154-10) for tenth place.
Veverka placed eighth in the shot put, throwing a personal best 15.19m (49-10).
In the high jump, Bryce Bierman placed fourth with a clearance of 1.98m (6-6). Freshman Daniel Inyang took sixth place with a jump of 1.93m (6-4). In the triple jump, freshman Weston Pink marked 13.35m (43-9.75).
Charlie Gifford and Cole Stugelmeyer finished fifth and sixth place respectively in the 110m hurdles. Gifford ran 15.16 seconds, and Stugelmeyer clocked 15.25 seconds.
Finishing in eighth place in the 100m dash, Cade VanHout crossed the finish line in 10.91 seconds. VanHout competed in the 200m dash finals as well, finishing in ninth place with a time of 22.27 seconds.
Sean Komro took seventh place in the 400m hurdles, running 57.25 seconds.
In the decathlon, Jacob Rice finished day two with 5,333 points to take seventh place. Following the meet, Rice received Larry Zirgibel All-Sportsmanship Team honors.
The 4x100m relay team of Stugelmeyer, Jacob Downing, Josh Katers, and VanHout took fourth place with a time of 42.09 seconds.
The 4x400m relay of Ryan Cherry, Komro, Tyler Doering, and Downing ran 3:26.94 to take eighth place.
