LaMere and Williams Win National Titles!

On a rainy day one of the NCAA Championships, Ian LaMere began the day by becoming the first runner in Division III history to ever win the 10,000m race three years in a row. To end the day, Amber Williams won her first long jump national title.

Whaley Joins the 17-Meter Club

The Pioneers sent a small group to the UW-La Crosse Final Qualifier for a last chance to qualify to the NCAA Championships next weekend. Even though Kyle Whaley was set to qualify to to nationals he used the weekend to improve his national ranking.

LaMere skips award ceremony, breaks all-time WIAC 5k record instead.

At last night?s Wisconsin Sports Awards ceremony, held at Camp Randall Stadium and the UW Field House, Ian LaMere was awarded the Small College Athlete of the Year award. He wasn?t present to accept the award because he was competing at North Central?s Dr. Keeler Invite.

More Records Broken as Pioneers Win Five Events on WIAC Day 2

The UW-Platteville Track and Field teams took benefit of the home field advantage to step up and win five events on day two of the WIAC Championships. The Pioneer women alone took home titles in five events over the course of the weekend, the second highest total for any women’s team at the Championships.

End of Regular Season Riddled with Weather Woes

For the final week of the regular season, the track and field teams split their squad between the Drake Relays and the UW-whitewater Drake Alternative meet. Rain and unseasonably cold weather hampered the performances in both meets as a few athletes were able to persevere past the rough conditions.

Ian LaMere runs fastest 10,000m of the year while school records go down at Augie

Two school records went down over the weekend while the Pioneers competed at Augustana. Senior Heptathlete Megan Marotz finished day 1 of the Heptathlon with a school record in the 200m while teammate Rachel Beuthin broke the shot put record. Ian LaMere traveled to UW-LaCrosse to compete in the 10,000m and came away with the fastest time of the year.

Williams and Whaley Win at Ashton May Invite

The UW-Platteville track and field teams competed at the Ashton May Invitational hosted by UW-La Crosse on Saturday. The Pioneers came away with two event winners as Amber Williams took the long jump and Kyle Whaley bested the field in the shot put.
