Williams makes history during Day one of WIAC Championships
Amber Williams became the first woman in WIAC Championship history to win the long jump three years in a row. Once again Williams waited for her final attempt to jump her best mark. Knowing that she had already won the competition with a previous jump of 5.71m (18-9) she leapt to 5.85m (19-2.5) on her final attempt. Williams now moves to the third spot in the national rankings.

Matt Dwyer came away with the title in the pole vault for the second straight year. Dwyer cleared a season best 5.01m (16-5.25). Dwyer retains the number five spot in the national rankings.
Brittany Ehlen tied for sixth place and set a new school record in the pole vault with her 3.57m (11-8.5) clearance.
Wyatt Thompson and Alec Burcham finished fourth and fifth in the 400m. Thompson ran 49.84 while Burcham crossed the finish in 50.07.
In the 5,000m Chelsey Heiden finished fourth with a time of 17:55.93. In the Men's 5,000m Walker Rynes crossed the finish in fifth place with a personal best of 15:06.30.
Jacob Hirsbrunner finished day one of the heptathlon in second place with 2649 points.
The Pioneer resume competition Friday morning at 9am with the women's pentathlon.
