Pioneer track and field chase down personal bests at Point
Stevens Point, Wis. – The Pioneers traveled to the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point for the third dual indoor track and field of the 2021 season. Several Pioneers set new personal best and season best performances.

PIONEER WOMEN
Kaitlyn Galgon won the mile run in a time of 5:20.05, and Kirstie Ramsey finished in fourth place with a time of 5:30.72.
In the 200m dash, Grace Guetschow ran 29.23 to set a new personal best time by nearly a half of a second.
Natalie Kreier won the 3,000m in 11:00.44, and Samantha Meyer took third place in 11:01.45.
Among the 60m hurdles, Casey Rielly finished the preliminaries with a time of 9.73 seconds.
Autumn Montgomery hit a new height in the pole vault, clearing 3.10m (10-2).
During the long jump, Alexis Healey saw a small improvement jumping 4.87m (15-11.75).
Paulina Wienke continued to see progress in the weight throw, tossing 14.65m (48-0.75) to win the event. Freshmen teammates Lydia Helle and MJ Stephens also saw personal bests, throwing 11.43m (37-6) and 10.49m (34-5) respectively.
PIONEER MEN
Cade VanHout won the 60m dash in 7.15 seconds. Jacob Rice was close to follow in second, finishing in 7.23 seconds. VanHout won the 200m dash as well.
In the 400m dash, Jacob Downing won the event in 51.22 seconds.
Jason Voelker ran 4:33.34 in the mile, finishing in fourth place overall. Freshmen Joey Madsen and Jeffrey Smolinski saw small improvements, running 4:34.94 and 4:41.88 respectively. Zach Flitsch ran 4:44.30 to earn a personal best performance, as did Elijah Eichner running 5:11.45.
Caleb Christiansen ran 8:56.66 in the 3,000m run, breaking the 9:00 barrier for the first time. Christiansen took second place in the race to a UW-Stevens Point runner by only a few seconds.
In the 60m hurdles, Cole Stugelmeyer saw a drop in time crossing the line in 8.53 seconds during the preliminaries. Stugelmeyer also saw an improvement in his 200m race, running 23.70 seconds.
Bryce Bierman soared over 2.02m (6-7.5) in the high jump today to win the event.
During long jump, Adam Wildman jumped 6.59m (21-7.5) to take second place.
Justin Eichler threw 14.52m (47-7.75) in the shot put, and Ben Veverka threw 14.32m (46-11.75). Eichler took second place and Veverka was third. Nicholas Walechka threw a personal best as well, 11.43m (37-6).
UP NEXT
The Pioneers will return to the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater on Friday, Feb. 26 for a dual indoor track and field meet against the Warhawks. Pentathlon and heptathlon student-athletes will be competing on Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 24-25. The Pioneers will compete at one last indoor meet on Saturday, March 6 to round off the unprecedented indoor track and field season of 2021.
