Pioneers battle the Storm and end in draw
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team ended Saturday's game against the Simpson College Storm 2-2 after 110 minutes of play in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team ended Saturday's game against the Simpson College Storm 2-2 after 110 minutes of play in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
The Pioneers move to 4-2-1 overall while the Storm is now 2-3-1 overall.
UW-Platteville held on to its 1-0 lead from the first half until the last ten minutes of regulation when the tides turned.
Simpson scored the tying goal in the 82nd minute, but UW-Platteville scored early in the 88th minute off a penalty kick to reclaim the lead 2-1. Unfortunately for the Pioneers, the Storm would strike yet again in the final minute to knot things up and send the game into overtime.
Neither team would find the net before both overtimes expired and the 2-2 tie became final.
Junior Mitch Reid found the back of the net first in the 27th minute with an assist by Quincy Ott. Sophomore Jack Gentilli then scored the Pioneers' second and last goal of the game in the 88th minute.
UW-Platteville out-shot Simpson 11-14 and held an 8-2 advantage on corner kicks. The Storm tallied 15 fouls while the Pioneers accumulated 19.
Freshman Chase Werner recorded seven saves in goal while Simpson's William Kopp tallied 12.
The Pioneers will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 22 when they travel accross the Mississippi River to the University of Dubuque with game time set for 5 p.m.
