Pioneers Swept To Close Regular Season
RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team (22-8, 3-4 WIAC) concluded the regular season by falling 3-0 to UW-River Falls (22-11, 2-5 WIAC) on Saturday night inside the Don Page Arena.

A six-point run gave UW-River Falls a five-point lead early in the first set, but UW-Platteville cut the deficit back down to one. The Falcons pulled away behind a 10-3 run to eventually win the first set 25-20. The two teams traded points for much of the second set, but UW-River Falls capitalized on a late lead for a 25-23 set two win. The Pioneers led for much of the third set, but the Falcons scored seven of the final nine points to earn the sweep, 25-23.
Junior Camryn Johnston paced the team with eight kills on a .429 hitting percentage while sophomore Emma Carlson and junior Claudia Johnson each added six. Sophomore Shea Lauria finished with a team-high 15 digs and freshman Kelsey Ewert tallied four service aces. The Pioneers recorded 10 block assists in the match, with freshman Kierney McDonald tallying four.
The Pioneers will travel to UW-Eau Claire (21-8, 4-3 WIAC) for the opening round of the WIAC Tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 1 for a 7 p.m. match. UW-Platteville hosted the Blugolds back on Sept. 14, with UW-Eau Claire earning a 3-1 win.
