Volleyball goes 1-1 on Saturday
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Volleyball team defeated Augustana 21-25, 23-25, 26-24, 26-24, 15-10 before falling to Luther 22-25, 25-20, 18-25, 10-25. The Pioneers move to 16-9 overall (2-3 WIAC).

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Volleyball team defeated Augustana 21-25, 23-25, 26-24, 26-24, 15-10 before falling to Luther 22-25, 25-20, 18-25, 10-25. The Pioneers move to 16-9 overall (2-3 WIAC).
In the five set win over Augustana the Pioneers were led by senior Katie Jones who finished with a career high 14 kills and a .241 hitting percentage. Jones added two blocks in the match.
Sophomore CJ Johnson ran the offense and finished with 40 assists and tallied 10 digs to record a double double. Sophomores Kaite Asche and Paige Mertens each finished with nine kills. Asche led the team with six block assists and five service aces.
Freshman Stephanie Kalinowski controlled the backcourt with 29 digs and three service aces. Sophomore Olivia Kudronowicz added 18 digs and two service aces.
In the four set loss to Luther the Pioneers struggled to get going offensively as a team. Kalinowski led the team with 22 digs and Johnson was next with 12 digs. Johnson added 44 assists to record a double double.
Asche and Jones each finished with 12 kills and hitting percentages of .320 and 200, respectively. Kalinowski and Kudronowicz each finished with two service aces.
The Pioneers host UW-Eau Claire on Tuesday night at 7 pm on Bo Ryan Court.
