Volleyball beats Loras, moves to 5-0
The UW-Platteville volleyball team won its home opener Wednesday and ran its record to 5-0 with a four-set win over neighboring Loras College.

The UW-Platteville volleyball team won its home opener Wednesday and ran its record to 5-0 with a four-set win over neighboring Loras College.
The visiting Duhawks won the first set 25-21, but the Pioneers roared back behind a strong defense to sweep the final three sets 25-22, 25-19 and 25-20.
The Pioneers out-hit the Duhawks .242 to .065, holding Loras to -.030 in the second set and -.080 in the third. Five different players had at least two blocks.
Coach Sam Birkecht's club had a balanced offensive attack, with Allison Jensen recording 13 kills, Maddie Dower 12 and Katie Jones 11. Allie Carter distributed the ball with 44 assists.
The Pioneers face four West Region teams Friday and Saturday at the Nebraska Wesleyan tournament, playing twice each day. Loras fell to 2-3 after Wednesday's match.
