Volleyball downed in first round of WIAC Championship
The UW-Platteville volleyball team fell to UW-Oshkosh, 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-18) in the first round of the WIAC Championship on Tuesday at Oshkosh, Wis.

OSHKOSH, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team fell to UW-Oshkosh, 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-18) in the first round of the WIAC Championship on Tuesday at Oshkosh, Wis.
Junior Jennifer Schmidt led the Pioneers with eight kills, while freshman Merritt Johnson tallied six. Sophomore Lidia Schmidt and freshman Allison Jensen each recorded five kills. Sophomore Lindsey Decker led the defense with 10 digs.
The Titans ended the first set on a 6-2 run and took the set 17-25.
UWO jumped out to a 14-4 lead in set number two and cruised to a 25-14 victory.
The Pioneers had the third set tied up at 9-9, but the Titans made another big run, scoring the next five straight points, 14-9. After a Pioneer timeout, UW-Platteville battled back to cut its deficit to one, 14-13, but UWO answered with a 6-1 run, pushing its lead to 20-14. The Titans went on to complete the sweep, taking the third set 25-18.
UW-Platteville end the 2014-15 season 17-17 and won 10 of its last 13 games.
