Volleyball defeats UW-Superior in five sets
UW-Platteville volleyball team came back from two sets down to defeat UW-Superior, 3-2 (20-25, 15-25, 25-11, 25-21, 15-7) on Saturday in Williams Fieldhouse.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team came back from two sets down to defeat UW-Superior, 3-2 (20-25, 15-25, 25-11, 25-21, 15-7) on Saturday in Williams Fieldhouse.
Thirteen attack errors over the first two sets put the Pioneers in a 2-0 hole.
The Pioneers finally found their rhythm in the third set, jumping out to an 8-1 lead. UW-Platteville cruised to a 25-11 victory and ended the set with 14 kills and just one error.
The Pioneers kept their momentum going in the fourth set and used a 7-2 run midway through the set, taking a 19-14 lead. UW-Platteville withstood any run from Superior and took the set 25-21.
A pair of service aces by freshman Allie Carter propelled the Pioneers to take a 9-2 lead in the final set. UW-Platteville went on to end the set with a .571 hitting percentage and nine kills, beating UWS 15-7.
The Pioneers return to action on Friday at Dubuque, where they will face off with the Spartans at 5 p.m. and then Loras at 7 p.m.
