Volleyball incoming class includes 6 freshmen and 1 transfer

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville head volleyball coach Deb Schulman announced the team's 2014 incoming class Thursday.
Six freshmen students and a one transfer student-athlete will join Schulman's squad on campus in August.
Alexandra "Allie" Carter (Setter, 5-8, Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley)
Senior year: Honorable mention all-state selection … Named second team all-metro … Set school record for assists per game … Elected team captain … Made the state semifinals … Elected to Iowa Senior All-Star Team … Two-time academic all-conference … Member of the National Honor Society.
Lauren Grady (Middle hitter, 5-11, Evergreen Park, Ill./University of Wisconsin-Parkside)
Freshman/sophomore year at NCAA Division II UW-Parkside: Tallied 91 career kills in 29 matches … Recorded 28 blocks in two seasons … Has a collegiate career high of 11 kills in a match … Honor roll student in high school and made Dean's List at UW-Parkside
Merritt Johnson (Outside hitter, 5-11, Moline, Ill./Moline)
Senior year: First team all-conference … Recorded 178 kills, 121 digs, 26 aces and 21 blocks … Junior year: First team all-conference … Tallied 246 kills … Team won regional championship … Named one of the top 50 volleyball players in state … Honor roll student and National Honor Society member.
Madalyn Dower (Outside hitter/defensive specialist, 5-8, Stockton, Ill./Stockton)
Junior year: Team defensive MVP, team offensive MVP, Village Voice POY … Senior year: Team defensive MVP, team captain … Team won conference and regional championships both junior and senior year … Made Sweet 16 in state tournament both years.
Allison Jensen (Outside hitter, 5-11, Lowden, Iowa/North Cedar)
Junior year: Second team all-conference selection … Senior year: First team all-conference selection, named team MVP and captain … Lead team in kills, averaging three kills per set … Named to academic all-state team in both volleyball and basketball … Played in conference senior all-star game.
Ashlee Moore (Middle blocker, 5-10, Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island)
Senior year: Named first team all-metro and all-conference … Team captain … Led team with 89 blocks and 143 kills … Team won conference, broke school record for wins in a season … Team won every tournament they appeared in … Honor roll student
Sarah Wichmann (Middle hitter, 6-0, Freeport, Ill./Freeport)
Senior year: Team won the regional championships … Played in the 2013 All-Star game
