A balanced attack by the University
of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team led the Pioneers to a
25-15, 25-11, 25-20 win over host UW-Superior on Friday night.
The Pioneers (20-13, 4-3 WIAC) were led by sophomore Stephanie
Kirchner, who had a team-high 15 digs and seven kills in the win as
well as freshman LeeAnn Mizgalski had a match-high 10 kills. In the
win, the Pioneers out hit the Yellowjackets by a .224 to a .089
margin. After eight attack errors in the first set, UW-Platteville
had just two in the second set and four in the third and deciding
set.
In addition to its strong play on the offensive side, the Pioneer
frontline posted 12 block assists, including five from
Kirchner.
The Yellowjackets (15-17, 1-6 WIAC) had three different players
with six kills to lead UW-Superior.
The Pioneers wrap up the regular season with a matchup on Saturday at noon
against UW-Eau Claire.
