Drees and Fish Lead Pioneers at 2011 Pete Willson-Wheaton Invitational
At 125, No. 8 seed Mack Drees advanced to the
quarterfinals to the lead the University of Wisconsin-Platteville
wrestling team at the 2011 Pete Willson-Wheaton Invitational with a
10-1 major decision victory over Justin Delamothe.
Up next for Drees is a matchup against No. 1 seed and the
fifth-rated wrestler in Division II, Alex Johns of Indianapolis.
The win by Drees raises his record to 25-9 on the season.
At 133, Allen Fish, who entered the tournament as
a No. 8 seed, bounced back from an opening round loss to post a 6-2
victory in his first consolation match.
Two Pioneers’ - Nick Dobbs at 174 and
Devin Johnson at 197 - posted a 1-2 record on the
day. Both lost in their opening round match before coming back to
win their first action in consolation. Then, the two lost in the
second round of consolation action.
The Pioneers’ entrants at 141, 149, 157, 165, 184 and
heavyweight lost both of their matches ending their participation
at the tournament.
Drees and Fish will return to action on Saturday at 9 a.m.
