Ash finishes second as Pioneers start season strong at Highland Classic
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The University of Wisconsin Platteville women’s golf team finished second out of thirteen teams after two rounds at the Augustana Highland Classic to tee off the 2021 fall season. The team set a Pioneer 36-hole record with a team score of 651 strokes. The previous best was set by 2003 team who shot a 657.

Senior Markie Ash earned second place out of 70 golfers shooting a 74 in round one and 76 in round two for a tournament total 150. Ash breaks the Pioneer individual 36-hole record previously held by Ahna Hendrickson in 2005 with a score of 153.
Senior Emily Veenhuis posted daily results of 82 and 83 for the team's second-best score of 165 and finished tied for thirteenth overall.
Rounding out the Pioneers top-five were Sophomore Josie Alm (88, 82) with 170 strokes, Freshman Jada Chang (86, 84) with 170 strokes, and senior Cortney Olson (84, 87) with 171 strokes.
The Pioneers compete next at La Crosse Country Club in La Crosse, WI on Saturday, Sep 11.
