Pioneers fall vs. Blue Devils

UW-Stout made six of its first eight shots while bolting to a 19-5 lead in cruising to a 74-50 victory over host UW-Platteville Saturday on Bo Ryan Court.
The Blue Devils extended the margin to 41-18 at the break, and the Pioneers came no closer than 17 (60-43) in the second half.
Both Julia Hirssig (22 points, 11 rebounds) and Trica VanVreede (13, 12) had double-double for UW-Stout, who improved to 14-10 overall and 9-6 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Blue Devils out-shot the pioneers 56 percent to 22.
Stacia Nemitz scored 15 points, and Charity Stotmeister had 10 for the Pioneers, who fell to 12-11, 5-9. Dru Schneider grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds.
