Pioneers improve to 7-1

The three seniors helped UW-Platteville reach 7-1 in women's basketball for the first time ever, defeating host UW-Oshkosh 63-49 Thursday night.
Stacia Nemitz scored 16 points, and Dru Schneider and Charity Stotmeister each scored 12 for UWP, now 2-0 in conference play.
The Pioneers rallied from a 20-12 deficit to take a 26-23 halftime lead. Coach Tina Kuhle's club never trailed in the second half, and the lead reached double figures at 57-47 on Liz Lawinger's layup with 3:13 to play.
Heidi Baerenwald had 11 points and 19 rebounds, while Megan Wenig scored 15 for the Titans (1-5, 0-2).
UW-Platteville plays at UW-La Crosse Saturday at 3 p.m. in the front end of a doubleheader with the men's team.
