Blugold win an inside job

UW-Eau Claire used a dominating inside performance to beat UW-Platteville 70-38 Wednesday on Bo Ryan Court.

Post players Hannah Messic and Ellen Plendl combined for 29 points and 20 rebounds as the Blugolds held a 42-8 advantage in the paint. Messic finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds for UWEC, who improved to 4-10 overall and 3-2 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Laura Olson led all scorers with 19 points, making 5-6 three-point attempts, and Jodi Lindner added 12 rebounds and six assists. The Blugolds jumped out to a 13-2 lead and never trailed. UWEC led 32-20 at the half.

Liz Lawinger led the Pioneers with 13 points, while Charity Stotmeister grabbed eight rebounds. The Pioneers shot just 19.7 percent while dropping to 9-4, 2-2.
