Pioneers beat Concordia, 78-71

Charity Stotmeister, Stacia Nemitz, and Claire Poad all scored 17 points, leading UW-Platteville to a 78-71 overtime victory at Concordia University Monday in Mequon, Wis.

Stotmeister made two free throws with 11 seconds remaining in regulation, tying the score at 65, then scored the first basket in the five-minute extra session. Dru Schneider's inside shot with 2:38 remaining gave the Pioneers the lead for good at 69-67. The Pioneers then made 9-12 free throws down the stretch to hold off the Falcons. Liz Lawinger made 1-2 with 32 seconds remaining for a 74-71 lead, and Stotmeister (19 seconds left), and Ashley Wolf (8 seconds) each made two more as UWP improved to 8-2 overall.

Nemitz added 9 rebounds to her 17 points, while Poad added 6 steals. Schneider chipped in 11 points, while Lawinger had 8 points and 7 rebounds.

Ashleigh Gallaghan came off the bench to score 15 points, leading the Falcons, who held a 31-24 halftime lead. The Pioneers held Concordia to 2-7 from the field in overtime, as the Falcons fell to 5-4.
