Pioneers open with win at Webster

UW-Platteville won its women's basketball season opener against Webster University in St. Louis 95-84 Saturday afternoon.

The Pioneers started out quickly, taking a 17-6 lead with 13 minutes left in the half. UW-Platteville had their largest lead of 18 points five times through out the game. The Pioneers ended the first half with a 12 point lead 50-38. UW-Platteville held their double digit lead for most of the second half.

The Pioneers were led by Charity Stotmeister with a career high 23 points shooting for 8-12 from the floor, followed by Lisa Grantman with 14 points and Stacia Nemitz with 13 points.

Webster's Courtney Brown led the team with 27 points and 8 assists, followed by Blaire Underwood with 17 points, and Katy Meyer with 15 points and 8 rebounds.

UW-Platteville will return to action at the Texas-Tyler Tournament against Texas-Dallas on Friday, Nov. 21 and then against Texas-Tyler on Saturday, Nov. 22.
