Pioneers earn OT win in Oshkosh

UW-Platteville made seven of eight free throws in overtime, as the Pioneers earned a 76-70 conference road win at UW-Oshkosh Wednesday night.

Charity Stotmeister made all four of her attempts in the extra session, including a pair of free throws with 4:01 to play that gave the Pioneers the lead for good at 69-68. Lisa Grantman, who also had four points in overtime, followed with two more free throws at 3:07, and Ashley Callahan scored a layup 26 seconds later, making the score 73-68. After the Titans' Shelby Churchill cut the lead to 73-70, Stotmeister made two more free shots with 1:20 to play, and Stacia Nemitz clinched the final 76-70 score with one of two free throws at the 16-second mark.

The Titans sent the game into overtime on Andrea Baeten's bank shot at the buzzer, knotting the score at 65.

Brianna Klaas led the Pioneers with 16 points and five rebounds, while Grantman had her seventh career double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Stotmeister added 12 points and six boards, and Nemitz scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds, helping UWP improve to 5-8 overall and 2-3 in the WIAC.

The Pioneers had just 13 turnovers, their second lowest total of the season, and grabbed 17 offensive rebounds.

Tiffany Pugh scored 16, Laura Ebens 15 and Baeten 10 for the Titans (5-8, 0-5 WIAC).

UW-Platteville plays host to 10th-ranked UW-Stevens Point Saturday at 5 p.m.
