February 4, 2009

UW-La Crosse won for the 11th time in 13 games and halted UW-Platteville's two-game winning streak with an 80-50 victory Wednesday in UW-L's Mitchell Hall.

The Eagles improved to 16-5 overall and 8-4 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, while the Pioneers fell to 7-13 and 4-8.

Lisa Grantman scored on a three-point basket to begin the game, but Lindsay Wahl converted a three-point play to give the Eagles a 5-3 advantage. UW-L would never trail again, taking a 34-24 lead at the half. Wahl and Mackenzie Hunter, who each had 16 points, opened the second half with baskets, and the Pioneers never came within 12 the rest of the way.

Both Grantman and Stacia Nemitz scored 12 to pace the Pioneers, while Brianna Klaas added 8, and Dru Schneider recorded 7s in both points and rebounds. The Eagles had at least seven players score seven points, led by Wahl and Hunter with their 16 apiece.

The Pioneers begin a three-game homestand vs. UW-Whitewater Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m.
