Pioneers fall in Eau Claire

UW-Eau Claire kept intact its perfect home record, beating UW-Platteville 58-41 Saturday night in Zorn Arena.
The Blugolds, who won their seventh straight home game, improved to 10-4 overall and 4-3 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, while the Pioneers slipped to 8-8, 2-5.
UWEC scored the first 10 points of the second half, extending a 22-15 lead to 32-15. The Pioneers never were able to get closer than 12 the rest of the way.
Liz Tesch scored 14 points, while Lisa Wubben had nine for the Pioneers. Michelle Burns scored 12 of her team-high 14 points in the second half for the Blugolds, while Rachel Mueggenborg has 12 and Heidi Arciszewski 10.
