Pioneers turnover game to Warhawks

UW-Whitewater handed UW-Platteville a 79-50 setback Wednesday, knocking the visiting Pioneers out of first place in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The Warhawks jumped out to a 30-21 halftime advantage as the Pioneers committed 19 of their 28 turnovers in the first half. UWW gradually pulled away in the second period and raised its record to 9-6 overall and 3-3 in the WIAC.

The Pioneers, now 8-6, 4-2, were led by Holly Kaiser's 13 points and Liz Tesch's 10. Amy Morris led four Warhawks in double figures with 17 points.

The Pioneers return to action Saturday vs. UW-Eau Claire at 5 p.m. The Blugolds earned their first WIAC win Wednesday in impressive fashion, beating UW-Stevens Point 67-63 Wednesday.
