Pioneers pull away from UWS

UW-Platteville outscored UW-Superior 11-2 over the game's final six minutes, lifting the Pioneers to a 59-45 victory Saturday in Williams Fieldhouse.
The Pioneers put the clamps on the Yellowjackets over those last six minutes, allowing just one basket in eight UWS attempts.
UW-Platteville improved to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, while Superior fell to 1-5, 0-2.
Senior center Shannon Boatman scored 15 points and dished out six assists, while junior forward Holly Kaiser had 12 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. Emily Adrian made three three-point baskets, and Emily Fritz made two in the a five-minute stretch of the second half, enabling the Pioneers to rally from a 28-21 deficit with 17:50 to play and take a 42-36 lead. UWP never trailed again.
Shawna Johannes scored 19 points to lead the Yellowjackets.
