Pioneers beat Yellowjackets

UW-Platteville's defensive pressure limited UW-Superior to 17 second-half points, as the Pioneers rolled to a 54-43 victory Saturday up in Superior.
The Yellowjackets made just seven baskets in the second period, helping the Pioneers pull away from their 30-26 halftime lead.
UW-Platteville improved to 12-9 overall and 5-7 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, while the Yellowjackets fell to 4-17, 2-11.
Shannon Boatman led the Pioneers with 13 points, while Lisa Wubben added 11 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Emily Fritz reached double figures for the first time in her two-year Pioneer career, scoring 10 points. Abby Lalko dished out a game-high six assists for Coach Tina Kuhle's club.
Stephanie Janigo led UW-Superior with 13 points and nine rebounds.
The Pioneers are back in action Tuesday vs. UW-Oshkosh in Williams Fieldhouse at 7 p.m.
