Pioneers vs. Falcons

UW-River Falls overcame a first-half UW-Platteville lead and beat the visiting Pioneers 69-54 Saturday.
The Pioneers led by as many as 12 (18-6) in the first half and still held a 27-25 advantage at the break. The Falcons scored the first seven points of the second period and never trailed again.
UWRF improved to 15-7 overall and 8-6 in the WIAC, while the Pioneers fell to 12-11, 5-9.
Holly Kaiser scored 16 points, and Lisa Wubben had 13 for the Pioneers. Erin Effle's 17 points led the Falcons, while Melanie Preiner had 13, and Megan Lindman added 12.
UWP closes its home season Tuesday vs. UW-Whitewater, and the Pioneers will honor their lone senior, Shannon Boatman.
