Pioneers fall to red-hot Falcons

January 15, 2005

UW-Platteville could not overcome a slow start or a red-hot Traci Reimann, as UW-River Falls beat the Pioneers 69-58 Saturday night in Williams Fieldhouse.

Reimann, who came into the game averaging 9.4 points per game, scored 28 points on 11-3 shooting, including all four of her three-point attempts.

The Falcons improved to 11-4 overall and 4-3 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, while the Pioneers slipped to 10-5, 3-4.

The Pioneers, who trailed 36-23 at the half and by as many as 18 in the second period, rallied within five points twice late in the game. Lisa Wubben's three-point shot cut the advantage to 58-53 with 2:39, but Reimann's three-point basket 28 seconds put the game out of reach.

Wubben led the Pioneers with 19 points, making 12 of 14 free throws, while Shannon Boatman added 11 points. Megan Lindman's 14 points complimented Reimann's outburst.

The Pioneers are back at Williams Fieldhouse Wednesday vs. UW-Stout at 5:45 p.m.
