Nov. 27, 2004

UW-Platteville took care of the basketball, and as a result took care of host Loras 70-45 Saturday night.

The Pioneers turned the ball over just eight times in the first 31 minutes while building a 20-point lead. They finished the Mississippi River Challenge game with 13 turnovers and their most complete game of the young season. UWP improved to 2-1 overall.

Freshman Lisa Wubben led a balanced attack with 12 points, while Shannon Boatman scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Rachel Korth and Emily Adrian added 11 and 10 points, respectively for UWP.

The Pioneers out-shot the Duhawks 43-34 percent while beating a Dubuque school for the 14th straight time. The Pioneers have defeated Loras seven times in that run, which dates back to the 1991-92 season.

Brianne Schneden led Loras (2-1) with 12 points. The Pioneers forced 20 Duhawk turnovers, converting them to 23 points. Loras was only able to score four points off Pioneer turnovers.

The Pioneers open Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Wednesday at defending league champion UW-Stevens Point.
