MENOMONIE, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville won the second regular season matchup against University of Wisconsin-Stout 78-68 on Saturday to sweep the season series, 2-0.

MENOMONIE, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville won the second regular season matchup against University of Wisconsin-Stout 78-68 on Saturday to sweep the season series, 2-0.
The Pioneers improved to 9-10 overall, 3-5 WIAC while the Blue Devils dropped to 14-5 overall, 4-4 WIAC. This was the first home loss of the season for the Blue Devils.
By halftime, the Pioneers built a 43-24 lead and extended the lead to 23 points entering the fourth quarter.. The Blue Devils trimmed the lead down to make the score 70-66 with 1:44 remaining. The Pioneers made 8-of-10 free throws down the stretch to close out the win.
Junoir Morgan Horstman finished with 25 points, two shy of her career high and added six rebounds. Sophomore Caitlyn Tipton matched her career high with an efficient 19 points on just seven shots. Tipton went 8-of-8 from the free throw line and added seven rebounds. Sophomore Maiah Domask had 17 points and eight rebounds.
As a team, the Pioneers outshot the Blue Devils in all three shooting categories; field goal percentage, 3-point percentage and free throw percentage.
The Pioneers host UW-Eau Claire on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. on Bo Ryan Court.
