Pioneers can't overcome slow start

RIVER FALLS, WIS. - University of Wisconsin-Platteville lost 57-36 to University of Wisconsin-River Falls on Wednesday night.
The Pioneers (6-8, 0-3 WIAC) weren't able to come back from their early deficit against the Falcons (7-7, 1-2 WIAC). The Pioneers trailed 38-13 at halftime and were able to cut that 25-point lead down to 17 points with 1:57 left in the third quarter.
Offensively, the Pioneers struggled to score efficiently from the field and finished the night shooting 17.3 percent (13-of-75) while the Falcons shot 40.7 percent (22-of-54).
The Pioneers took care of the ball and only had 13 turnovers compared to the Falcons 22 turnovers. The Pioneers had 10 steals on the night to force many of the Falcon turnovers.
Junior Morgan Horstman led the team in scoring with nine points. Horstman and sophomore Maiah Domask both had seven rebounds to lead the team.
The Pioneers host UW-Stout on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 3 p.m. on Bo Ryan Court.
