PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville head women's basketball coach Megan Wilson has announced that the Pioneers will sponsor their annual Breast Cancer Awareness game on Wednesday, Feb. 11 against UW-Eau Claire.
This year the Pioneers' theme is "Bras for a Cause". The team will be wearing pink uniforms and encourages all attendees to wear pink and show their support.
In addition, they will be holding a bra decorating contest in which sport teams, student organizations, campus departments, and community members can submit a bra for voting. Make a donation of a dollar to cast your vote for the best decorated bra. Please submit your bra to the main athletic office in Williams Fieldhouse by Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 3 p.m. to be entered into the contest.
There will be a collection period during one of the media time outs, as well as a chance for groups to model their bra creations for the audience. There will also be a special halftime scrimmage featuring the Platteville Special Olympics Basketball team. Half of all the donations received will go to the Barbara Oimeon Education Fund and the other half to Play4Kay.
Play4Kay was created to help support former NC State women's basketball coach Kay Yow and her fight with breast cancer. The Kay Yow Cancer Fund is committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women's cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause.
