Jelinek Earns All-American Honors Day One Of DIII Championships
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Three members of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field team competed on day one of the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships on Thursday at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

After placing 13th last year in the discus, sophomore McKade Jelinek picked up All-American honors for the first time in his career with an eighth-place finish at 50.14m (164' 6"). Jelinek advanced to the finals with a toss of 48.46m (159' 0") on his second attempt of the day before posting his best mark on his opening throw of the finals.
Senior Justin Eichler competed alongside Jelinek in the discus and placed 10th overall behind a mark of 48.09m (157' 9") on his third attempt of the day. Eichler will throw again on Saturday at 2:45 p.m. central time in the hammer, where he currently ranks first in DIII at 67.32m (220' 10").
Sophomore Caden Schneider ran a time of 9:09.95 in the 3000m steeplechase prelims later in the day to advance to tomorrow's final. He placed 12th overall in the first round and will run again tomorrow at 6:15 p.m. central time.
On day two of the championships, freshman Hailey Campbell will compete in the high jump at 12:30 p.m. central time before Schneider runs in the final event of the day.
