LaMere and Williams Receive Honors on Eve of NCAA Championships
Ian LaMere and Amber Williams received Midwest Regional Athlete of the Year awards. Williams eaned the field honors while LaMere got the track honors.
GENEVA, Ohio – Ian LaMere and Amber Williams received Midwest Regional Athlete of the Year awards. Williams eaned the field honors while LaMere got the track honors.
LaMere is ranked first nationally at the 10,000m and 5,000m distances. LaMere, the national record holder in the 10,000m, ran the eight fastest mark ever with his time of 29:18.92. His time in the 5,000m, 13:56.76, is the third fastest time in NCAA DIII history.
Williams won the WIAC Championships with a 6.09m (19-11.75) long jump. Her jump put her in the ninth best spot on the all-time Division III Best List. Williams also won the triple jump with a leap of 12.14m (39-10). Her efforts also earned her WIAC Field Performer of the Meet. Williams became the first woman in WIAC history to win the Performer of the Meet award four years in a row.
