Williams makes Pioneer history

MADISON, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville's Amber Williams was named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Field Performer of the Meet for her stellar performance at last week's conference championships.
The freshman is the first Pioneer to earn Field Performer of the Meet. The only Pioneer to earn Track Performer of the Meet was Marcia Taddy, who garnered the award three times.
Williams started her weekend, breaking her own school long jump record with a leap of 18-feet-9-inch to finish second on May 2. She then opened the final day off competition with a second place finish in the high jump. It was the third time she had ever competed in the high jump in her career, and cleared 5-feet-6 inch to rank tied for 11th on the national qualifying list. The Milwaukee native, won the triple jump, shattering her own school record with a 40-feet-2.25-inch leap. Her jump is the best in the nation for NCAA Division III athletes and will qualify her for the nationals in two weeks.
