EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team claimed its first victory since 2012 in a WIAC Championship (presented by Culver’s) game with a 6-5 win over UW-Eau Claire after 11 innings in Tuesday’s quarterfinal. The #6 seed victory over the #3 seed was the only upset in the WIAC on the day and advances the Pioneers to Thursday’s semifinal at UW-Oshkosh.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team battled it out in back-to-back, one-run losses to UW-Whitewater on senior day. The opener went into extra innings where the Warhawks pulled away for a 6-5 win and the visitors held on for a narrow 2-1 win in the nightcap. Prior to the non-conference doubleheader, the Pioneers (15-15 overall) recognized the 2021 senior class which included Abby Burns, Shannon Gaul, Ashton Hoeppner, Alejandra Ochoa and Haili Cota.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Senior Shannon Gaul’s perfect 5-for-5 day at the plate for the University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team guided the Pioneers (13-13, 6-6 WIAC) to a 4-2 nightcap victory after falling 2-1 in the opener to the Eagles of UW-La Crosse (11-12, 7-5 WIAC). Friday’s conference split at the UW-Platteville Softball Complex leaves the Pioneers tied with UW-Stevens Point for fifth in the WIAC and UW-La Crosse sitting at fourth in the league.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team swept UW-Stout in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon at the UW-Platteville Softball Complex. The pair of wins marks the first time since 2017 that the Pioneers (11-11, 5-5 WIAC) defeated the Blue Devils (4-17, 0-9 WIAC) and the first since the 2008 season where UW-Platteville took two from Stout. The Pioneers won game one 5-1 and added a 5-3 victory in game two for their second doubleheader sweep of the year.
OSHKOSH, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team dropped both games of Tuesday’s doubleheader at the UW-Oshkosh Softball Park. UW-Oshkosh (13-5, 5-1 WIAC) took sole possession of first in the WIAC after holding on for a narrow 3-2 win in game one over UW-Platteville (9-10, 3-4 WIAC) and then defeating the Pioneers 8-4 in the nightcap.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Bats came alive for the University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team (9-9, 3-3 WIAC) in game two of Sunday’s doubleheader against UW-River Falls (9-9, 4-4 WIAC) at the UW-Platteville Softball Complex. The Pioneers divvied out 11 runs and 10 hits in the shutout after falling 7-4 in the first contest. Abby Burns (3-2) got the win in the circle for the Pioneers striking out five, walking one and allowing just two hits in the five innings.

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team added another Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference split to the 2021 season. After dropping game one 8-1, the Pioneers rallied and jumped to a six-run lead after two innings and won the second half of the doubleheader 7-3. After the doubleheader at Faye Perkins Field, UW-Platteville is now 8-8 overall and 3-3 in the WIAC while UW-River Falls is also 8-8 overall and 4-4 in the league.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – After battling the weather all weekend, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team faced-off with the UW-Stevens Point Pointers in a pair of games to open Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. In the doubleheader, which was originally scheduled for Saturday, the two teams took it to nine innings before UW-Stevens Point (14-7, 1-1 WIAC) claimed game one 2-1. UW-Platteville (6-6, 1-1 WIAC) brushed off the late loss and took game two 5-3 for the split with the Pointers.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team (2-4) split Wednesday’s nonconference doubleheader at Coe College (6-3) with a 4-3 loss in game one followed by an 8-4 victory in game two. Shannon Gaul did the Kohawks no favors at Clark Field, leading the Pioneers and picking up six hits off seven at bats across the two games and driving in six runs. Overall, the Pioneers totaled 23 hits, 11 runs and no errors in the doubleheader.
