Platteville, Wis.- The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team placed six members on the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Conference team. Seniors Shannon Gaul and Ashton Hoeppner were named to the first team, while senior Alejandra Ochoa, junior Rachel Plautz and junior Claire Bakkestuen were named honorable mention. Senior Abby Burns was named to the All-Sportsmanship team. Hoeppner was also named WIAC Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team claimed its first victory since 2012 in a WIAC Championship (presented by Culver’s) game with a 6-5 win over UW-Eau Claire after 11 innings in Tuesday’s quarterfinal. The #6 seed victory over the #3 seed was the only upset in the WIAC on the day and advances the Pioneers to Thursday’s semifinal at UW-Oshkosh.

Platteville, Wis.- For the third straight week, a University of Wisconsin-Platteville athletic team will compete in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference postseason. The Pioneer softball team (16-16, 7-7 WIAC) will travel to UW-Eau Claire (22-16, 8-6 WIAC) on Tuesday, May 11 to open the WIAC Softball Championship (presented by Culver’s). The Pioneers and Blugolds split a conference doubleheader on Friday, May 7.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team split with the Blugolds of UW-Eau Claire in Friday’s regular season finale. After a walk-off 5-4 Blugold victory in the opener, the Pioneers answered back with 9-0 shutout (six innings) in the nightcap.

Bakkesteun shuts out Stout in Game 2, 4-0.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team swept UW-Stout in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon at the UW-Platteville Softball Complex. The pair of wins marks the first time since 2017 that the Pioneers (11-11, 5-5 WIAC) defeated the Blue Devils (4-17, 0-9 WIAC) and the first since the 2008 season where UW-Platteville took two from Stout. The Pioneers won game one 5-1 and added a 5-3 victory in game two for their second doubleheader sweep of the year.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Bats came alive for the University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team (9-9, 3-3 WIAC) in game two of Sunday’s doubleheader against UW-River Falls (9-9, 4-4 WIAC) at the UW-Platteville Softball Complex. The Pioneers divvied out 11 runs and 10 hits in the shutout after falling 7-4 in the first contest. Abby Burns (3-2) got the win in the circle for the Pioneers striking out five, walking one and allowing just two hits in the five innings.

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team added another Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference split to the 2021 season. After dropping game one 8-1, the Pioneers rallied and jumped to a six-run lead after two innings and won the second half of the doubleheader 7-3. After the doubleheader at Faye Perkins Field, UW-Platteville is now 8-8 overall and 3-3 in the WIAC while UW-River Falls is also 8-8 overall and 4-4 in the league.

WHITEWATER, Wis. –University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball’s hot hitting in game one Wednesday afternoon handed the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater its first home loss of the season. The Pioneers notched out 16 hits in game one in route to a 7-6 victory and added nine more in their 6-3 loss in game two.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team’s big 6th inning late in game two handed the Pioneers a split against UW-Oshkosh on Tuesday’s non-conference doubleheader. The home opener marked the first games held at the UW-Platteville Softball Complex in over 700 days. UW-Platteville fell 4-0 in game one and retaliated with a big 10-5 win in the second game.

WINONA, Minn. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team swept St. Mary’s University in a total of 10 innings in Friday’s doubleheader at St. Mary’s Field. Overall, the Pioneers (4-4) dished out 26 runs, 24 hits, four home runs, six doubles and 26 RBI’s over the Cardinals (3-7). The Pioneers 12-3 win in game one and 14-0 shutout in game two concludes UW-Platteville’s busy week of six games in five days.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team dropped a pair at No. 16 ranked Milwaukee School of Engineering at the MSOE Athletic Field on Monday. Game one finished 4-3 and while the Pioneers were shutout 5-0 in game two.

MEQUON, Wis. - Exactly 365 days after the University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team had their 2020 season cut short, the Pioneers opened the 2021 season 1-1 after splitting today's doubleheader (W 5-4, L 4-3) at Concordia University-Wisconsin. Claire Bakkestuen and Abby Burns both homered in game one with Burns' 2 RBI in-the-park HR in the top of the 7th giving the Pioneers the lead and win at a modified Kapco Park.
