Pioneers Earn Shutout In Senior Day Win
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s soccer team (12-1-3, 4-1-0 WIAC) shutout UW-Stevens Point (8-7-4, 1-4-0 WIAC) for a 4-0 Senior Day win on Saturday afternoon inside Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team (12-1-3, 4-1-0 WIAC) shutout UW-Stevens Point (8-7-4, 1-4-0 WIAC) for a 4-0 Senior Day win on Saturday afternoon inside Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
Sophomore Brady Harwood buried a free kick into the left side of the net to get the scoring started for the Pioneers in the 32nd minute of the first half. His first goal of the season was the only score in the opening half, and junior goalkeeper Seth Aiken kept the Pointers off the board by making a pair of saves.
UW-Platteville's offense capitalized on its scoring opportunities in the second half, scoring three goals on eight shots on frame. Senior Alex Wano made it 2-0 in favor of the Pioneers in the 58th minute after knocking home a header following a pass from junior Ethan Dietrich. The goal was Wano's sixth of the season and Dietrich earned his team-high seventh assist.
Junior Kellen Klosterman scored the final two goals of the match for the Pioneers, with the first one coming in the 78th minute off a pass from junior Cael Harris. Klosterman's second goal was in the 85th minute, and junior Daxton Foote was credited with the assist.
The Pioneers held a 25-4 advantage in total shots across the match, including 12-2 in shots on goal. Seventeen different players attempted at least one shot, with junior Danny Gutzwiller pacing the team with three attempts.
In goal, Aiken earned his seventh shutout of the season after stopping two shots across 90 minutes in net. Aiken and the Pioneers defense have at their best over the past couple weeks with shutouts in six of the past seven matches.
With today's win, the Pioneers locked up a top-two seed in next week's WIAC Tournament. UW-Platteville will host one of the two semifinal matches next Friday, November 8, with the winner advancing to Sunday's conference championship.
