PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – For the second consecutive year, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team (11-1-3, 3-1-0 WIAC) captured the Shaymus Guinn Cup in the annual matchup against UW-Whitewater (8-6-3, 1-2-0 WIAC) behind a 1-0 win from Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium on Friday night.
The lone goal of the match came in the first half, as junior Zac Monnett scored his second of the season in the 29th minute. Monnett collected a rebound in front of the net after the Warhawks goalkeeper was unable to corral a shot attempt by junior Sebastian Carranza. The assist was given to Carranza, his third on the campaign.
Junior Seth Aiken picked up the Pioneers fifth shutout in the past six contests. He made a pair of saves, one in each half, to secure the win.
