Pioneers Post Third Straight Shutout With 2-0 Win
DUBUQUE, Iowa – Two first half goals led the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s soccer team (9-1-2) to a 2-0 road win over Dubuque (4-8-2) on Tuesday night from Oyen Field in Dubuque, Iowa.

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Two first half goals led the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team (9-1-2) to a 2-0 road win over Dubuque (4-8-2) on Tuesday night from Oyen Field in Dubuque, Iowa.
Senior Isaac Petersen netted the first goal of the match in the 18th minute to give the Pioneers to early advantage. The goal was Petersen's second of the season, and junior Alester Dawson earned the assist, his first of the campaign.
Later in the half, senior Michael Schaefer made it 2-0 in favor of UW-Platteville with his first goal of the year. Junior Sebastian Carranza earned the assist, his second of the season.
The Pioneers outshot the Spartans 12-1 across the first 45 minutes and carried the momentum into the second half by holding a 9-3 advantage in shots. For the match, UW-Platteville totaled 21 shots compared to just four for Dubuque.
In goal, junior Seth Aiken collected the win, improving his record to 6-1-1. He made one second-half save to preserve the Pioneers third consecutive shutout.
UW-Platteville will return home on Friday night to take on UW-River Falls for the third conference game. The Pioneers will also recognize the 60th anniversary of the men's soccer program, with the match starting at 7 p.m.
