PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team (4-0-2) answered an early goal to draw 1-1 with Loras (3-3-4) on Wednesday night from Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
The Duhawks scored just 31 seconds in the match to put some early pressure on the Pioneers. After several scoring opportunities came up just short, senior Alex Wano tied the game at one apiece in the 36th minute on his third goal of the season. Sophomore Justin Williams picked up the assist following his corner kick attempt that found Wano after bouncing off a Loras defender.
Both teams would have chances to break the tie across the final 54 minutes, but the score remained knotted at one. Loras got several timely saves from its goalkeeper in the match, including a pair of penalty kick stops.
The Pioneers finished with a 17-7 advantage in total shots, with juniors Danny Gutzwiller and Sebastian Carranza leading the way.
In goal, junior Seth Aiken returned to the lineup and made a pair of saves on three shots faced.
UW-Platteville remains at home for a 1 p.m. contest against Coe on Saturday.
