Pioneers Season Ends In NCAA Second Round
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s soccer team (14-3-5) fell 2-0 to UW-Eau Claire (13-4-2) in the second round of the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Tournament on Sunday night inside Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team (14-3-5) fell 2-0 to UW-Eau Claire (13-4-2) in the second round of the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament on Sunday night inside Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
The Blugolds scored both of their goals in the opening half, with the first coming in the 21st minute from Noah Malcook. Nathan Donovan netted the second in the 27th minute, his third goal of the tournament, to increase the advantage to two.
UW-Platteville pushed the tempo in the second half as they looked to make a comeback but were unable to break through the UW-Eau Claire defense. The Pioneers attempted nine shots in the final 45 minutes and had five corner kicks, but each chance was turned aside.
Sophomore goalkeeper Seth Aiken made a pair of saves for UW-Platteville on four shots faced in the contest. UW-Eau Claire finished with 14 total shots, compared to 13 for the Pioneers, but UW-Platteville led 5-4 in shots on frame.
Nine different players recorded at least one shot for the Pioneers, led by two each from sophomore Ethan Dietrich, junior Marcelo Garay, junior Isaac Petersen, and freshman Parker Boatman.
The Pioneers season concludes with a 14-3-5 overall record and the trip to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in program history. UW-Platteville was the runner-up in the Coast-to-Coast conference tournament and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time.
