Pioneers Shutout Simpson 4-0
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Behind three first-half goals, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men’s soccer team (7-0-3) won 4-0 over Simpson (4-6) on Friday evening from Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Behind three first-half goals, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team (7-0-3) won 4-0 over Simpson (4-6) on Friday evening from Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
Freshman Brady Harwood got the Pioneers on the board early, scoring his first goal of the season on a free kick just two and half minutes in. UW-Platteville would add two more goals before halftime, starting with junior Marcelo Garay's third of the year in the 24th minute. Junior Isaac Petersen earned the assist, his second of the season. In the 38th minute, sophomore Alester Dawson netted his first goal off a corner kick from Garay to increase the lead to three.
The Pioneers tacked on a fourth goal in the second half, as sophomore Sebastian Carranza buried a rebound following a shot from junior Clayton Mobile.
UW-Platteville controlled possession for much of the contest and outshot Simpson 22-6, including 11-4 in shots on goal. Eleven different players recorded a shot for the Pioneers, with Harwood, sophomore Ethan Dietrich, junior Lucas Shoeneberg, and Garay leading the way with three apiece.
Junior Chase Werner collected the win in net, stopping all three shots he faced in the first half. He improved to 3-0 on the year with the victory.
The Pioneers head to Loras on Tuesday night for a 7 p.m. start.
